HPL stands for "High Performance Lamp". ETC Developed this lamp with their source four line of fixtures. If you look closely, the lamp uses 4 filaments oriented tightly in the center of the lamp. Get it? Source 4? By doing this they were able to get outputs that rivaled 1000w lamps with only 575w.
